What a Spotted dragon looks like
Spotted is an incomplete dominant pattern morph, graded Uncommon like one copy of every simple gene that shows with one.
Pattern genes each work one part of the markings, their layout, shape or amount, so Spotted mixes with the other pattern genes into a pattern of its own.
Patternless hides it: a Patternless dragon can carry Spotted unseen and still pass it on.
How to breed a Spotted dragon
Spotted is incomplete dominant: one copy of the gene shows Spotted, and two copies show its super form, Speckled. A Spotted passes the gene to half its babies.
Because one copy and two look different, a dragon's look tells you what it carries: a Spotted has one copy, a Speckled two, and a Normal none. The exception is Patternless, which hides Spotted: a Patternless dragon can carry it unseen and still pass it on.
Pair two Spotted dragons and 25% of the eggs are Speckled; a Speckled paired with a Normal gives a Spotted in every egg. For the Punnett square behind these numbers, see how to read breeding odds.
Where to get a Spotted dragon
Spotted turns up in crate dragons. In the pool of genes every crate draws from, the Spotted gene comes up at a rate of 8%; the Iron Crate turns that up 2.3 times and the Lava Crate 4 times. How often a crate dragon shows any morph at all depends on the crate: 8% in the Wooden Crate, 35% in the Iron Crate and 70% in the Lava Crate.
