What a Red dragon looks like
Red is an incomplete dominant colour morph, graded Rare, a step above the Uncommon one copy of a simple gene usually gets.
Colour genes change the body itself, the bottom layer of a dragon's look, so Red stacks with any pattern, white or accent gene on the same dragon.
Nothing in the game today hides Red: a dragon with the gene always shows it.
How to breed a Red dragon
Red is incomplete dominant: one copy of the gene shows Red, and two copies show its super form, Deep Red. A Red passes the gene to half its babies.
Because one copy and two look different, a dragon's look tells you what it carries: a Red has one copy, a Deep Red two, and a Normal none. There are no hets to prove.
Pair two Red dragons and 25% of the eggs are Deep Red; a Deep Red paired with a Normal gives a Red in every egg. For the Punnett square behind these numbers, see how to read breeding odds.
Combinations with Red
The combinations book collects every body colour with every element. A Red dragon that also shows Lava is a Red Lava, one of the 8 squares open today, and the first keeper to hatch each square holds it as a world first.
Rose Grey: A silver-grey dragon with a rose-red blush along the flanks. Grey is held back for after launch, so nobody can breed Rose Grey yet.
Where to get a Red dragon
Red turns up in crate dragons. In the pool of genes every crate draws from, the Red gene comes up at a rate of 8%; the Iron Crate turns that up 2.3 times and the Lava Crate 4 times. How often a crate dragon shows any morph at all depends on the crate: 8% in the Wooden Crate, 35% in the Iron Crate and 70% in the Lava Crate.
